I've been active in the strategy game community, and have taken a lot of influence from gamers who just want to see a game that evolves with the times and has meaningful dialogue with developers. This has been my personal passion project for the past 3 years. And diplomacy with enemies and neutral factions in the galaxy affects how many resources you gain per turn, and they'll even barter to give you technology and influence in exchange for their freedom.Īll of this you can get with a 50-75 minute game, against all AI opponents, or playing cooperatively (and uncooporatively) with friends online.

Battles are carefully planned ahead of time so that when you actually engage in them, it's a shootout until the end without taking up a ton of time. The AI will keep track of every action you take against them, until reaching a boiling point where you are their main target for the rest of the game (you REALLY have to mess with them bad to get to this point though ). Voting on a political agenda will actually alter the core rule set and can be used to back stab opponents in ways they couldn't see coming. Our goal was to create a game that doesn't do this artificially by reducing the amount of content, but instead we balanced the gameplay so that every action you take can and will impact you the rest of the game.

Don't get me wrong, there have been times where I wanted to set up a perfect empire, and min-max my way to a complete 200 turn victory in Endless Space or Sins, but the direction I've found my own interest going in, and the interest of friends as well as gamers in general, is that there needs to be a game that allows you to enjoy the bet parts of complicated strategy game without the humongous time commitment. The game has the same characteristics that make strategy games really enjoyable, but was spawned from what I saw as a gaping hole in a lot of games that have been released recently, which is predictable and drawn out gameplay.
